Parkland College awards record $118,000 in Entrance Scholarships

October 1st, 2015

Parkland College has set another record by awarding $118,673 in Entrance Scholarships to 36 students this fall. The dollar figure is the most money ever handed out by the College in a single scholarship presentation. It breaks the previous high of $110,800 awarded this past March at the Internal Scholarships.

“We’ve been fortunate to have great support from the community and the Ministry of Advanced Education,” said scholarship committee chair Brendan Wagner. “It’s important that our scholarship program keeps growing as we welcome more and more post-secondary students to the College.”

All students receiving Entrance Scholarships are taking university, skills training, or trades programs at Parkland College.

The scholarships are made possible through the generosity of local businesses and organizations, community members, Parkland College staff, the annual Dollars for Scholars Golf Classic, and the Ministry of Advanced Education’s Saskatchewan Innovation & Opportunity Scholarship program.

The Saskatchewan Innovation & Opportunity Scholarship program is a matching program in which funds are provided on a dollar-for-dollar basis with local non-government donors.  For every dollar raised locally, the province will match that dollar to support scholarships as available.

Students interested in learning more about scholarship opportunities at Parkland College are encouraged to stop by one of the five campuses in Canora, Esterhazy, Fort Qu’Appelle, Melville or Yorkton, or visit the Scholarships area of our website to view scholarship opportunities. Internal Scholarships for students already enrolled in Parkland College programs will be awarded in March 2016. Applications for those awards will be available to students beginning in December.
