What does the future hold?

January 4th, 2016

The turn of the calendar to a New Year is perhaps the best time to sit down and examine what the future holds — and Parkland College is doing exactly that.

Our current strategic plan was designed to run until the completion of 2015, and it has served us well. Over the next few weeks and months, Parkland College will embark on the process of developing a new strategic plan that will chart our future course. We are pleased to have Laura Soparlo facilitate the process. She has worked with Parkland College in past strategic planning activities and also has experience working with other organizations in our service area.

The process will begin with the collection of input from a variety of groups who are vital to the ongoing work and success of Parkland College. Staff, students, and our external partners will be invited to take part in the information gathering through focus groups and online surveys.  The information will be collated so key themes can be identified and incorporated into a draft plan that will be shared for further input. The goal is to have the strategic plan finalized and ready for implementation in the 2016-17 academic and fiscal year.

Planning for the future is both an exciting and daunting task. While we are never quite sure what the future holds, we are certain that a strong strategic framework will be an invaluable tool to assist Parkland College as we work to meet the future needs of our students, staff, and communities.

Additional information will follow with details about participating in the focus groups and online surveys. We cannot wait to receive your valuable input and get on with the planning.
